i18.ai
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
This policy covers the i18.ai web application, the i18 AI Companion Chrome extension and the i18 desktop apps for macOS and Windows. It describes what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It is published to satisfy the Chrome Web Store User Data policy and our own commitments to our users.
What the extension does
The extension lets a signed-in i18.ai user capture audio from the active browser tab — typically a Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams meeting — stream it to the i18.ai service for transcription and translation, and read the live results in Chrome's side panel.
What data is collected
The extension does not run a separate collection pipeline. Everything goes to your own i18.ai workspace through the same API the web app uses.
| Data | Source | Purpose | Stored where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tab audio | The active tab, only after you click Start capture | Transcription and translation | Your workspace, under its retention policy |
| Microphone audio | Your microphone, only while “My mic” is on and a capture is running | Transcribing your own speech — tab audio carries only the other participants | Your workspace, under its retention policy |
| Active speaker name | Read from the meeting page while a capture is running | Label transcript lines with who said them | Your workspace, as part of the transcript |
| Language preferences | Your selection in the side panel | Restore your last setting | Your device only (chrome.storage.local) |
| Capture health diagnostics | Allow-listed event, platform and failure-category counters only | Create a safe support report when capture fails | Your device only; never uploaded automatically |
| Session cookie | Read from i18.mehdisadeghian.com only | Authenticate the API request as you | Not stored; transient per request |
What we do not collect
- We never capture audio — from the tab or your microphone — without an explicit click. The microphone is released as soon as the session ends, and you can turn it off entirely in the side panel.
- The extension and the desktop apps never record video. The web app records the shared screen only when you turn recording on for that meeting.
- On meeting sites we read only the display name of whoever is currently speaking. Not the chat, not the participant list, not documents, nothing else on the page.
- We never read keystrokes, clipboard, browsing history, or cookies on any domain other than i18.mehdisadeghian.com.
- Local capture diagnostics never include meeting content, tab titles, URLs, participant names, meeting IDs or raw errors. You decide whether to copy and share the report.
- We never sell your data, and we share it only with the speech-to-text and translation providers you choose in your own workspace settings (OpenAI, Deepgram, Google).
Permissions
Every Chrome permission the extension requests is the minimum needed to capture audio from the active tab, render the side panel, remember your language preference, and authenticate API calls as you. We do not request the broad tabs permission, and host access is limited to our own domain.
Retention and deletion
Meetings live in your workspace and are kept for its retention period (30 days unless its admins set another), then deleted with their recordings and exports. Delete a meeting from the History page and it is removed from our servers immediately, along with its transcript, translations, recording and search index entries. Delete your whole account from Settings → Account: that removes your personal meetings and any workspace where you are the only member. Copies in our backups are overwritten within 30 days. Locally cached preferences are cleared by uninstalling the extension, or via chrome://extensions → Details → Site data → Clear.
Children
i18.ai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will update the date at the top and note it in the release. The current version is always linked from the Chrome Web Store listing.
